The coffee industry in Brazil is booming and always has. Brazil is one of the most important coffee harvesting countrys in the world. Brazilian coffee is mostly exported as green coffee, soluble coffee, roasted and ground coffee, concentrated and essential extracts and coffee residues. The largest buyers of Brazilian coffee are Germany, U.S, Italy, Japan and Belgium. Brazil is not just a massive exporter but also a massive consumer of the popular drink. In the 2011/12 harvesting season Brazil made a whopping $7,841 billion USD. Fairtrade farmers get a hearty 80% of the money their coffee earns. But on the other hand non-Fairtrade farmers only get 50%. So with Fairtrade from that $7,841 billion, $6,200 goes back to the farmers around Brazil instead of $3,900 without the help of Fairtrade.
